These are pretty cool and relatively cheap. Shame this one is kaput! It’s basically a lighter for lighting candles that emits a lightning bolt when you press the button, like a candle taser. It still comes on after charging, but there is no lightning.
So let’s open it up, have a look at the charging circuitry and the coil, and measure what is going on when you press the button. Sadly I think we failed, so it’s off to the recycling centre. I did find a date code from 2017 on it though, so it survived surprisingly long for a bit of tat.
