Apparently the magic carpet of the 3D printing world!
A mystery package sealed with glorious unicorn duct tape turns out to contain a sheet of textured 3D printer bed surface. The official version is called BuildTak, so try searching for a BuildTak clone or compatible sheet. I also wonder whether a cheap mouse mat stuck to the bed might do just as well.
